AAA Music Approved: Jimi Priceless

Who are you and where are you from?
I am Jimi Priceless, a music artist from Cape Town, South Africa. I
write, produce and perform all my music and I have been releasing
music consistently since 2018.
What inspired you to get into music?
I’ve always loved music and once I discovered rap/hip-hop when I was
12 I decided to start writing my own raps about a year or two later. I
started getting into production when I was about 17 because there
weren’t any other ways I could get beats at the time.
What have you done?
I have done approximately 300 songs, including those that are
released, unreleased and those I’ve scrubbed from the internet to
avoid embarrassment. I’m most proud of my consistency and ability to
have kept trying new formats and methods of releasing music and that I
still do to this day.
What are you like live?
A rare sight to behold. I’m not that frequent of a performer to put it
lightly but I’ve never received any negative reviews so the showbiz
adage must be true: always leave them wanting more.
What makes you different?
I’m more in tune with my writing than my production so I think most
people listen to my music because they know that they’ll be engaged by
the lyrics from start to finish. My production style is also varied
enough to keep listeners guessing as to what my next song will be
like. I think that those two things and the fact that there has not
gone a month over the past few years without some new Jimi Priceless
music sets me apart.
Physical vs Downloading vs Streaming…How do you listen to music?
If it’s a big artist’s new single or some project that has piqued my
curiosity then I’ll give it a stream. If it’s music from an artist
that I’m actually a fan of I’ll download it. As an artist I would
prefer purchasing and downloading to be the norm but it’s a tough ask
because there are so many variables to consider.
What have you been listening to?
I’m at an age now where I don’t try that hard to keep up with what’s
happening and just play the same artists I enjoy over and over but I
currently have Cruel Santino, Pusha T and Lupe Fiasco in rotation.
What are your aspirations for the future?
Firstly, keep making and releasing music regardless of circumstances.
Secondly, I would like to take advantage of more opportunities to
advance my career and make the best possible choices to ensure my
financial success as an artist and brand.
