| On 18, Jul 2019

You’ve decided to jump start your dreams for fame by becoming a musical artist. You’ve done a bit of work and booked a few shows but you haven’t done anything worth mentioning yet. It’s because of this that you’re having trouble finding interested fans.

Your problem may be less with your sound and more with your marketing. If you play your chords right you can gather a nice little following in no time. All you’ve got to do is promote yourself.

To help you get started playing with the big boys, here are a few music marketing tips that any up and coming musician needs to know.

1. Live Music Promotion

Nowadays you can pretty much promote yourself and start making albums without leaving the comfort of your home. Even though you can do this though, that doesn’t mean that it’s a good idea.

Live performances offer unique promotion opportunities. At the end of the show, you can play a song that’s going to be on your new album and give your audience a release date for it for example.

2. Use Social Media

Everyone is on social media and if you’re not then you’re missing out on promoting opportunities. Granted, your entire social media page shouldn’t be dedicated to promotions but a small chunk of it should.

Make sure that you’re mixing these promotional posts in with your fun and conversational ones. Keep in mind that posting updates to social media isn’t the only way to keep your fans in the know. You’ll still need a website.

3. Promote and Sell Your Music on Your Website

If you put up a website and forget about it then fans will lose interest. your website should be constantly changing based on what you are doing.

Create a blog where you post fun stories and updates for your albums. You want people to come to your website as often as possible.

Make sure that you post your logo on your site and on your social media as well. If you don’t know how to make one then there are logo makers out there that can help you.

4. Collaborate with Other Musicians

One way to promote yourself and gain a few new fans is to collaborate with an artist that works in the same genre and already has a huge following.

It doesn’t have to be anything big. You can work with them on an album or song, do a cover of each other’s songs on social media, or just give each other a shout out.

Music Marketing Tips that Will Help You Build Your Fanbase
