Technics Launches Premium Hi-Res Audio Service

Technics – one of the main players of the electronics industry – has launched a hi-resolution audio download service, which offers hundreds of thousands of 24-bit FLAC tracks. The new-ish download store, called Technics Tracks, offers users the chance to access and listen to a massive catalogue of albums and tracks in ‘hi-res’ – something many other music services are yet to offer.
When will it be released, I hear you ask? Well, it’s already live! It was made available in the UK and in DE from February 2015 (hence the use of the word “new-ish” in the last paragraph). Those of you who are savvy music industry bods will notice that this Technics Tracks audio service was custom built by 7digital, one of the leading B2B open digital music platforms, which also offers a 7digital branded audio download service.
But, what exactly is a FLAC track? FLAC stands for “free lossless audio codec” and it is an audio coding format which allows for the lossless compression of digital music – i.e. music can be compressed to an identical copy of the original audio without losing any of the quality. Technics Tracks offers 24-bit FLAC tracks including many in superior 192Hz sampling rate, as well as a mass of CD quality tracks (16-bit//44.1kHz).
So, what does this service offer in terms of music? Well, Technics and 7digital are striving to offer a comprehensive catalogue which covers music from across all the main genres – including pop, rock, classical and jazz – and from all the main music labels and record companies… Not just the major labels, but also the most important indie labels. Even an artist like Radiohead, whose singer Thom Yorke is fiercely outspoken again many of the audio streaming companies, is available in high resolution via Technics Tracks. Radiohead 24 bit FLAC tracks? Now, that’s impressive.
