Who are you and where are you from?

We’re Rah Rah. Many years ago, the stars aligned and some of us started to write rock music in (lead singer) Marshall Burns’ parents’ basement. Since those days we’ve had numerous band member changes and we have evolved into an energetic mix of rock, pop, folk, and a hint of country.

What inspired you to get into music?

We all grew up in different parts of the music scene in Regina, SK, Canada. Personally speaking, I watched my brother play in many bands before I ever started one. For me, it was simply the thing to do. As for our sound, we don’t necessarily limit ourselves to one genre (that would take the fun out of it, wouldn’t it?). We like to explore the best sound for each individual song, try different tempos, different structures until it feels right. I like to think we’re motivated by music itself, to keep making it, to keep pushing ourselves.

What have you done?

We’ve made a couple of EPs, four full lengths and a remix album. That, along with how much touring we’ve accomplished, is a lot to be proud of!

What are you like live?

We like to bring the party. We carry the philosophy that fun is contagious: if we’re having fun on stage and the audience connects with that, then there’s a good chance they’ll have a good time too. (We may bring balloons or confetti canons with us depending on what the venue will let us do!)

What makes you different?

We have three lead singers and we also like to change instruments. We change it up so it’s never boring for us, it keeps us on our toes.

Physical vs Downloading vs Streaming…How do you listen to music?

I personally listen to music digitally since I’m always on the road -I don’t really have a choice! But vinyl has this incomparable quality to it – almost a warmth or nostalgic element – that cannot be denied.

What have you been listening to?

I’ve been listening to To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar lately, he’s an incredible artist. Some of my favourite records that are always in my rotation are Worlds Apart by …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, and Tournament of Hearts by The Constantines.

What are your aspirations for the future?

Explore the world! Tour countries we haven’t had the chance to before.
