Melodic Cotswold based singer songwriter Ben Maggs is a warm and welcoming acoustic guitarist. He creates confident and atmospheric songs that are inspired by the beauty and drama he finds in landscape and nature.
His pleasant and often stunning debut album Come As You Are was released on 27th November, 2015 on Bear Paw Records.
Turbulent ‘The Storm’ has a fiery character inspired by the strength and intensity of weather that Ben experienced on a trip to the North West coast of Scotland and lyrics to ‘My My My’ were written at scenic The Cuillins, a raw and jagged range of rocky mountains on the Isle of Skye. Ben’s words here are poetic and expressive: “Birds are black, blood is red, and rain comes down down down. She sits alone, all alone, her heart beats on and on and on.”
In the gentle, timeless and intimate ‘Winter Moon’ Ben reflects: “Winter Moon she lights my path, in the town where I have grown and many times as I recall, she’s carried me, carried me home and I have walked and dreamed beneath the canopy, oh ’til darkness turned to light”.
