STORMS – Shame

| On 01, Oct 2015

Gritty and scuzzy guitar tones are at the heart of this song, as yelps of ‘Shame’ are prolifically exercised. The London four piece exude rock and roll swagger, executing melodiously plucked strings whilst heavier elements take centre stage, just as the bridge breaks. Messy, slurred but ever so complimentary are the waning vocals of the lead vocalist which contrasts against the harsher elements. This makes for an absorbing listen, which is exhilarating and cool, especially in combination with the crisp production.

Though Storms have been highlighted as an emerging band at the forefront of British grunge scene featuring 90s charms, the song manages to channel and encompass 70s rock flare courtesy of the “coos”, as well as the unashamed grandeur of the chorus. With ‘Shame’ having debuted already as Track of the Week on XFM’s This Feeling Show and plenty of praise from established institutions such as Clash Magazine and BBC Introducing; it won’t be long until your hearing Stormsname floating around on the alternative rock circuit.
