PEACE – Gen Strange

Since the rise of YouTube and things like the BBC’s Live Lounge, footage of bands playing live has become the increasingly favoured medium.
Before this, it would be to MTV that music pilgrims flocked for music videos. Now, live videos are much more interesting – they really give you a feel for how the track may sound live. Obviously, there are still producers in the background, slicking everything back to perfection, but there’s a bit more feeling and emotion in these types of videos than your average music video.
‘Gen Strange’ is an offering from Peace’s latest album, Happy People. The follow-up, released in February 2015, has been generally liked by fans. There are moments from the debut, In Love (2013), but it’s definitely become more refined and slightly more poppy – and that’s not a bad thing.
This particular song is not quite as heavy (well, as heavy as it got) as the last album, and the bridge is definitely the catchiest part of the song – it entices the listener to the chorus, which is the same line repeated; a sultry almost relent after the driving force of the track.
As ever, Peace are on form.
