As I pushed play on ‘Innervisions’, a track from German band Pool, my boyfriend came into the room playing the imaginary drums. A song that forces its way into your head and starts your muscles twitching involuntarily is a great start, though this song definitely needs more than one listen to ‘get’.

This song keeps you listening for that something more, something that never seems to come, and towards the end of the song you’re wondering just how long they’re planning on going on for. Then, just like that, it stops, and you are left with the uncomfortable feeling that you’ve heard it before, leading you to keep thinking about it – an interesting technique that stay in the minds of your listeners.

‘Innervisions’ is definitely a track for your next house party. The smooth and sexy vocals contrast with the jumpy, ADHD beat, though I could never work out what he is actually saying… a great way to have your guests bopping along but listening to each other, not the lyrics. Not to mention the great conversation starter of ‘where have I heard this before?’.
