London based experimental blues artist Duke Garwood has released four studio albums: Holy Week, Emerald Palace, The Sand That Falls and Dreamboatsafari. He’s a multi-instrumentalist and singer well known for distinctive, smoky vocals.
‘Heavy Love’, the title track to Duke’s album of the same name, was released on 9th February, 2015 on Heavenly Recordings. It features gentle and intimate vocals by Savages‘ singer Jehnny Beth and was recorded at 2KHz Church Studios in London with Alain Johannes and Mark Lanegan. The accompanying video was directed with the help of rock photographer Steve Gullick.
Duke’s soulful and individual style has acquired an ethereal feel. He sings sparse and minimal ballads imaginatively with a deep, growly voice. ‘Heavy Love’ is a slow, sleepy and erotic song which takes the listener on a hypnotic journey. It’s dark and delicate psychedelia with a touch of mysticism.
