SPANK ROCK – Gully

| On 23, Jan 2015

Peculiar sounding and a video to match makes Spank Rock’s ‘Gully’ is as sharp as a razor edge. Being incredibly different as well as addictive, it’s a fascinating listen.

The opening interlude is made welcome by a faint drum beat that is then twisted into a vibrant yet booming piece of noise. Good noise though, something that is relatable and introduces the listener nicely.

We are told to pump up the bass, among other strange lyrics that create an apprehensive tone. Watching the video with the song enlarges the confusion, and yet you are gunning for more of this alien like tune.

The booming beat continues throughout the 2 min 50 piece. By the last quarter, the madness is in full swing, with both the video and song bouncing off each other emphatically.

Not only this, but the tail end goes off on one and really ends the song strong full of chaos, pandemonium and confusion. You don’t know where you stand with this song, but you honestly won’t care because you will be enjoying the disorder!
