RED HOUSE GLORY – Living A Lie

This offering from London-based quartet Red House Glory is an orgy of Indie/Blues musings slathered in a thick layer of rock…like a gravelly cupcake of goodness.
‘Living A Lie’ is the track that is pulsing through my ears right now and I can tell you…it’s a treat for my listening holes. The track has a fuzz rock edge to it, one that the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, Foo Fighters and Wolfmother have ventured down the paths of before them.
Contrasting this is the distinctly crisp quality to it, particularly the vocals that are delivered in a manner reminiscent of Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree). The pure vocal sits superbly throughout the track, cutting through the fuzz and heaviness, like a lifeboat made of razor blades, carving its way through the darkest of stormy waves. All of it makes for a stunning collaboration between instruments and humans. The solo that juts out from the breakdown section is fantastically suited to the piece, channeling a solo that Jack White would relish.
In my opinion this is an extremely well crafted track with a hooky chorus and a stylishly shot video, which gives the track an immediately dark and dramatic tinge to the song. Look out for much more coming your way from Red House Glory in 2015 as I’m sure it’ll be tantalising and inspiring…I hear whispers of the possible release of two EPs on the horizon!
