Shakedown’s dance floor classic ‘At Night’ was re-released a few weeks back in the form of a huge mash-up by The Freestylers.
‘Saturday Night Flava’ is lively, energetic and a really exciting re work that literally sends a message to your whole body to cut some shapes.
Described as a: “Mash up of a bunch of our favourite studio tunes, the outcome is here for you to enjoy for free”, it’s a definite hit of the download button. Some mash-ups can sound confused, over the top, out of sync, if you must. However ‘Saturday Night Flava’ combines charmingly so and is a great listen.
The rise of the song is dramatic from the outset with immediate vocals from the original song and loud foghorn like warped effects. This just creates a great tension building atmosphere that is then cut in half when the song goes off into Saturday night club heaven.
Half way through is where the song winds up again before once again being lifted off into even more shape cutting territory. The track allows for the drum beat to have its say before all sound is cut off, letting the funky club sound go solo before then continuing to its vibrant conclusion.
This updated club mash-up has received great reaction on the live circuit at home and abroad as stated by the electronic group. It’s perfect for a Saturday night for everyone’s ‘Saturday Night Flava’.
