LES BONBONS – Nouveau Départ’

A beautiful, transcendent introduction, orchestral timbres, shimmering strings ascending and descending, smooth shades of brass all interweaving, leaving you with a feeling of ‘what’s going to happen next?’
What I expected was some chamber folk/pop; instead I was surprised by some French indie pop with Finn Andrews of The Veils on guest vocals. Les Bonbons offer an exciting free download ‘Nouveau Départ’ from their debut album release, Les Bonbons.
A pleasing union of sounds all combine together to create a solid rock/pop outfit for this band. What also remains is a unique musicality, and ingenious blend of alternative rhythmical guitars and subtle brass textures. I particularly enjoyed the breakdown episode where the brass and sax licks come into their own placed among the growing backing vocals and atmospheric guitar, all modest but enchanting with raspy flutter tonguing techniques and an overall sense of space and growth.
To summarise, a track which exudes a gypsy-troubadour alternative image and looks forward to a thrilling new album and live tour dates in both London and Paris over the winter months.
