‘Live On Hunger’ is a seductively dark psychedelic track released by rockers Dark Horses. Accompanied by a music video directed by Wiz Whiston that captures the ambience of the track in all regards and manages to mirror the edgy attitude of Dark Horses the track succeeds on all levels.

The song opens with a slick and persistent bass line punctuated by a simple and stripped back guitar riff. The vocal performance delivered by Lisa Elle combines the subtle sexuality of Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ front-woman Karen O and the powerful aggression of Alison Mosshart from the Kills as she sings: “I got a car and a one track mind, a new name that they’d never find. I’m alive… so alive.” The chorus delivers a massive wave of sound which contrasts beautifully with the a cappella vocals of the second verse.

A masterfully constructed track, ‘Live On Hunger’ aids in finding Dark Horses a unique place among the massive influx of psychedelic blues rock inspired bands of today. The new album Hail Lucid State will be released on August 28th 2014 through Last Gang Records.
