Birmingham’s The Twang are set to release their fourth studio album, N E O N T W A N G, on the 10th March and ‘Larry Lizard’ gives us a sample of things to come. The recurring hypnotic guitar and echoing vocals hook the listener right from the intro, the musical heartbeat blending underneath the main vocal melodies and soaring lead guitar is the key to the catchiness of the track. In comparison the vocal performance and lyrics feel average, but the song has such a depth of layers that the listener is pulled beyond the surface, the ears delighting at the detail in the different elevator levels of melody and rhythm. Britpop fans should have a listen.
