Single of the Week, Month and the Year! Prince is back!

Prince presents his new group 3rdEyeGirl and has been playing ‘Hit and Run’ shows with them all around London. The first song I head from this band, ‘FixUrLifeUp’, showed me very much of what 3rdEyeGirl could do with Prince, but ‘PretzelBodyLogic’ is the anthem to hit them into your head like a nuclear bomb ready to explode. From the chanting at the beginning to the killer, big Hendrix-esque Rock riff you, are instantly sucked in and wonder why Prince hasn’t hit you with something like this in quite a while.

I have always loved it when Prince goes slightly heavier and really grinds his guitar; it really stands out and with co-guitarist Donna Grantis he has been able to make this sound even bigger! I also really love when he squeals – he does a great one near the end of the track. The track has a really steady beat to it, which is provided by Hannah ‘Ford’ Welton backed up by the killer bass sound of Ida Nielsen. There is one bit in the song where it goes quiet and you can hear all the sounds of the instruments separate. This is one of my favourite pieces of the song but you can’t deny that this song really has a cool, catchy chorus and riff; brilliant stuff by the Prince of Funk and Rock.
