A relevant, witty nod to the ‘Movember’ craze, ‘I Want a Moustache, Dammit’ is another clinky, clanky homemade shanty from Quiet Marauder. The song is in keeping with the bands free-spirited sense of humour and ‘back to basics’ attitude, featuring on their four-volume 2013 release Men (volume 2). ’I Want a Moustache, Dammit’ is a catchy yet mild track that simply does what is says on the tin; with quirky tale-telling (and even Burt Reynolds) Quiet Marauder do the job of pure entertainment.

This is a friendly and cheerful ‘up-and-down’ toe-tapper from the band that shows a positive expression of not taking yourself too seriously; especially in a time of in-vogue solemnity and large egos. The simplicity and ridiculousness of this song may put some listeners off, and maybe even annoy; however it’s clear Quiet Marauder are not exactly anxious for people to take them seriously so hats off to them.  Their lack of self importance is something to be admired, however they may need to explore a more complex narrative for their songs, to stay afloat in 2014.
