AAAmusic: Who are you and where are you from?

Bite The Buffalo – brothers Stos and Miti Goneos. Grew up in The Copperbelt, Zambia and moved back to the UK to make some bluesy stomp rock’n roll.

AAAmusic: What inspired you to get into music?

Well we had the ‘rents Beatles records and possessed a Michael Jackson Hits video tape but we didn’t really get exposed to much else. There weren’t any music stores in town and we had nothing like MTV when growing up… so we only really got introduced to new things when a member of the family flew over to say hello. I remember our cousin came down with some Hendrix, Stones, Berry, Zeppelin and a full Nirvana collection… that was pretty much it for us. When you dig deeper into what influenced those guys, you end up racing straight down to the blues.

AAAmusic: What have you done?

So far… we’ve released an EP and our debut album Blue Lips, we’ve toured the UK, Spain and The States (from SXSW festival to Seattle), played venues like The Viper Room, Camden Barfly, The Roxy and a couple of 02 Academy’s, our songs have been played on a few international TV shows (inc. ABC’s 666 Park Avenue) and on BBC Radio stations across the UK, we’ve supported The Bootleg Beatles, The Stone Foxes, Eagles Of Death Metal, Will and The People, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis and Gabrielle Aplin… will have a big big ‘ol announcement next month too.

AAAmusic: What are you like live?

Loud, energetic, calamitous, drunk and harmonious… we love to party.

AAAmusic: What makes you different?

I guess what makes us different is that we have no option but to be different… there’s so many duo’s nowadays so what’s the point of us being here if we’re not doing something ‘else’ right? I personally can’t tell you what it is, but I know if you peak past the comparisons and just have a listen… you’ll see there is something unique in this sound. And If anyone does feel the need to throw around comparisons… we have better beards than The Keys and better tans than The Stripes.

AAAmusic: Physical vs Downloading vs Streaming…How do you listen to music?

I like me some Spotify and I listen to a lot of stuff on YouTube. I’ll buy a vinyl or a CD when I go see a band live cos it’s always nice to take something like that away from an experience. As a musician I just want people to get there hands on our music… and it’s fantastic nowadays that there are so many platforms in which you can do so. Even the ‘illegal downloading’ taboo… when we got wind that our music had been ripped and placed on things like MediaFire and Pirate Bay… we celebrated.

AAAmusic: What have you been listening to?

The Growlers, Tame Impala, Little Hurricane, Broken Hands, The Heavy, Gary Clark Jr and The Devil Makes Three.

AAAmusic: What are your aspirations for the future?

To have a friends creation of ‘Bite’n Buffalo’ beer available at the shows (true story), record and release a new album over the winter and just keep playing some epic shows to some epic people in some epic places.
