Tesseract are very different from most bands you would find at a Prog festival, for a start most people would classify them as Metal. I think Tesseract are much more than aMetal band they mix up Progressive Rock and Metal riffs that might come from bands such as King Crimson and Tool. Yes this band take a lot of influences from Tool but they do mix it up with their own style and brand of contemporary Metal.
The band have struggled with finding a vocalist that wants to stay with the band or fits in with what they are doing and I think they have struck called with their new choice Ashe O’Harawho is just what the band wanted. He has a boyish presence but his vocals are of a man well passed his years. Even Maynard James Keenan would be happy to have some of the range that Ashe has on show today in Rotherham.
The band have so many interesting strings to their bow from the amazing ‘Nocturne’ which is a track that stays in your head for weeks to the haunting and mezmorising ‘Acceptance – Concealing Fate (Part One)’ that sticks with you forever. This is a very important band forProgressive and Metal music, they have so much to offer and they will get bigger and bigger as they go on. This is a band to watch and one of my favourites of the festival.
They command the stage like veterans to the game as weird Psychedelic imagery is projected behind them, these images go in time with the music and swirl the audience into a trance like state while the interesting sounds of Tesseract blow their mind. I advise you to buy their album ‘One’ it is an essential purchase.
