Legends Tesla tear shreds out of Rotherham!
Tesla love or hate them Tesla really gave it their all today and were just the right band for the job in Rotherham. I am not a massive fan myself but I have friends that are, and after today’s performance I can see why. They really put their heart and soul and full energy into their performances.
Opening the set with the great ‘I wanna Live’ singer Jeff Keith moves round the stage like a cross between Iggy Pop and Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), this song exploring their commercial edge but still having their Blues / Rock signature sound. They also take this commercial edge to a nice direction on the track ‘Hang Tough’ which has a nice guitar sound near the end with a slow pace melody that just makes people chill to the sound ofTesla while enjoying the riffs and Jeff can still hit every note perfectly.
This Sacrament, Californian band know how to Rock and they know how to show an audience that they can do this, with using the whole stage and moving around while showing you a great Rock attitude. They can also bring you back to 70’s Blues and Southern Country sound like on ‘Mama’s Boys’ which also picks up the pace with a full on Rockanthem esq bridge. This song comes off their album ‘Bust a Nut’ and the guys are certainly doing that tonight with their full on show.
Jeff’s vocals are best on the slow number ‘Gettin’ Better’ where the melody is just incrediable and this is one of the highlights of today’s set. I also love the riffage on this song as it kicks in, it’s a classic American Rock song. Their isn’t any low points in todays set but ‘The way it Is’ goes on a little too long and I wasn’t that keen on their cover of the Five man electrical Band song ‘Signs’.
By the time they get near the end of their performance you just want to have a good time and drink a lot, so ‘Edison’s Medicine’ goes down amazing and leads on to a great rendition of‘Lazy Days, Crazy Nights’ and ending song ‘Modern day Cowboy’. This band just speakRock to you, so if you like your music pure bloodied and honest. This is a band for you and I was really surprised how much I enjoyed their set. They are a band for the people and this was a brilliant set.
