THE STARLING SESSIONS ARE CALLING ALL BUDDING MUSICIANS FOR INDUSTRY SUPPORT
aaamusic | On 18, Mar 2013
Those looking to break into the music industry have two main options. Fight for their place within one of the ‘big three’ major record labels, or attempt to go it alone; the latter of which can be difficult without support or industry-geared knowledge. Cue The Starling Sessions, an artist development company launching on 26 March.
The Starling Sessions help budding artists, or those who need added support to move their career within the music industry forward. The concept has been founded by Leanne Page and Daniel Whittaker, who also mentor several of the sessions. They set up business due to the plethora of unique and creative unsigned talent of the music industry.
Unlike other courses, the mentors who make up the core team at The Starling Sessions are not only currently working within the industry but have a track record of having worked with some of the biggest names in music industry, meaning that they can now pass on their knowledge to students. Mentors currently work for brands including, international crowd funding platform Indiegogo and international music management and talent booking agency MN2S.
Alongside artists looking to begin or further their career, The Starling Sessions also help those looking to set up their own company within the music industry.
The sessions available range from advice regarding funding, to the legal and business aspects of a music career. Alongside the fundamentals, there are sessions on creating a brand and ‘the live sessions’, where mentors critique the performance aspect of the artists involved.
The Starling Sessions will launch on Tuesday 26 March, with the first sessions starting on Tuesday 2 April and taking place at East London, creative hub and studio Port-of-Entry. The studio was set up in order to create a platform to allow young creatives to work, develop and share ideas; sentiments very much shared by The Starling Sessions team.
Those looking to join can become a member for free, which includes discounts on selected sessions. For just £25 or £55 per month, artists will provide members with greater discounts and added extras to their sessions such as video documentation.
For anyone with bags of talent and little industry knowledge, The Starling Sessions is just the ticket.
The Starling Sessions launch on Tuesday 26 March, with the first sessions starting on Tuesday 2 April and taking place at Port-of-Entry, 350-354 Old Street, EC1V 9NQ.
