Slow Club
Proud Camden Thursday 14th March 2013
This March, the seminal Slow Club will play a special live set at Proud Camden as part of Proud’s newest endeavour: #aMonthOfGOODsex. The night looks to transform Proud’s infamously tacky Thursday club night, BAD SEX, by hosting a programme of aurally classy live music.
After touring Europe and taking time out to record their third album, Sheffield formed band Slow Club will be playing their first London gig of 2013 at the notorious Proud Camden, headlining Proud’s Good Sex.
Slow Club’s unique musical sound is minimal at times yet laced with unusual percussion, Indie twang and Meg White-esque drumming which makes them incredibly distinctive.
Instead of being devoted to defining their sound, the duo focus more on the way they write their music, culminating in it being received as “uplifting, catchy, interesting, joyous, heart-breaking and … very good” NME. With positive affirmations from The Guardian, BBC Music and The Quietus, Proud’s Camden gig looks to be one not to be missed.
Slow Club consists of Charles Watson on vocals and chords with Rebecca Taylor working her melodic, rhythmical magic on vocals, guitar and drums. The band’s intimate lyrical style fused with Taylor’s emotive vocals makes Slow Club’s music engaging, and incredibly nostalgic, evocative of past loves and future ambiguity.
Be sure not to miss them on Thursday 14th March at Proud Camden. Doors open at 7pm.
