Introducing Hanna Turi

‘You Collect’ is the first single from Swedish newcomer Hanna Turi’s forthcoming album ‘Tracks in the Water’. The song is structurally experimental; it starts minimally but with a highly charged, edgy piano, which turns into the crux of the song with warm synths and a moving composition. The scene in the music video reflects the song in an inviting way to consider its deeper meaning.
Hanna Turi, 24, from Falun in Sweden started to write her own music at the age of 9. Her piano-based songs and deep-going lyrics gave her the 2008 prize for best singer/songwriter at Musik Direkt – the competition where José Gonzales and Laleh were discovered.
Her previous album, the critically acclaimed ‘Some Old Tapes’ received a lot of attention from the Swedish press. She made an appearance on national television and earned a reputation as a ‘wonder child’. The album was released with Peace and Love Artists in 2011 followed by a US-tour, a gig in China, and shows at the Way Out West and Peace & Love festivals in Sweden.
Her new album ‘Tracks in the Water’ is Hanna Turi standing on her own feet and represents her coming of age. It is in full flow and expected to be released in January 2014.
March 2013 sees Hanna heading to SXSW where she is headlining at Riverbend Church.
