Caitlin Rose / ‘Only A Clown’ video unveiled & UK tour begins

Released this week, Caitlin’s second album has already been declared ‘one of the first truly great Americana albums of 2013’ by Uncut, whilst BBC Music called it the ‘essence of modern country music’.
‘Only A Clown’ was one of the two tracks written with Gary Louis of The Jayhawks. “Gary and I got on like bandits…” Caitlin says. “Collaboration is supposed to be fun, if it’s not you should just stick to writing by yourself. It often brings out the best in me, though.”
It’s hard not to agree, with ‘Only a Clown’ an epic, sky-blue horizon, wind-in-your-hair song that sounds fifty feet tall but is somehow contained within three-and-a-half minutes. Rose’s vocals are as stunning as ever, uplifting yet tinged with melancholy as she laments; ‘Nobody says goodbye to a clown / They only laugh when he’s gone’.
If you fell in love with Nashville’s Caitlin Rose and her garlanded 2010 debut album, ‘Own Side Now’, you were in good company. Led by her golden nectar voice, an irrepressible personality matched with a gift for emotionally direct songwriting, and deliciously melodic country sounds, Caitlin Rose beguiled and flat-out, jaw-droppingly impressed wherever she turned.
The outpouring of acclaim Caitlin Rose generated with her debut has continued apace with ‘The Stand-In’ and sees Caitlin Rose unabashedly stating her case for being at the very forefront of the burgeoning ‘New Nashville’.
