Dropout Dan – Forever. Instead

The EP starts with Oh. Little Red, the vocals are breathy and the backing vocals are wonderfully harmonic. The tone of the song sounds like it’s gasping for air underwater. The guitars are fast and fresh, supporting the oracle-esque harmonies. The lyrics are the weak point of this song, they aren’t particularly great but they aren’t really where the listener focuses on. The tone is very interesting. Puppy Fat soars in with confident guitar and powerful vocals. Even when the vocalists are shouting they still manage to sound harmonic. The band’s strong points are their well-crafted harmonies besides rhythmic and emotional guitar.

The vocals are rather strong and you’d think they’d overpower the guitars but they blend together nicely. The songs are carefully put together and the elements are woven well. There is a lot of potential here, especially with a little lyrical development. The lyrics are more original than quite a lot of the new acts I hear though; quite a lot more original. And I think the lyrics fit the style that the band is going for.
