It’s funny how such an immediate single as this could be such a grower. One would assume, with Lent’s expertly blended mix of jaunty piano-pop and icy synths, that this would be one of those singles that targets the heart and nothing else, with hints of a classic guilty pleasure building just out of eyesight, but Autoheart have delivered something that, on closer inspection, may target more than just the heart. Lent’s mile a minute wordiness, mannered, auto tuned vocals and story of a marriage falling apart told with lines like “I’m angrily surprised at you” could turn quite a few off, but to those willing to give it the time to grow that it needs, it could be something quite special.
