Angus McOg – Arnaut

Arnaut is the new album by Angus McOg. It has quite a light and gentle rock style to it, very pleasant.
The vocals are gentle and warm, very relaxing and inviting. They rest very subtly above the often acoustic sounds of the instrumental below to form a rich and vibrant harmony. The instruments chosen for this album seem to be acoustic in nature (an acoustic guitar, strings, etc), which help to make the songs sound very warm and much more tender than other styles. The melodies are very simple and flow very nicely, creating a sense of musical direction which flows very well into each track. The percussive instruments vary at points, but all are well suited for the parts and don’t detract from the warmness of the tracks and keep the pulse of the music very well without being overpowering as well.
Overall, these are quite strong tracks which form a good album. A warm and inviting style which makes it easy to listen to and creates a very good replay value, very rare in an artist nowadays.
