Funeral For A Friend – The Distance

I live in hope that British Rock fans, especially the kind of Rock fans that surfaced from this fair isle over the last ten years or so, find it unable to hold anything but good will toward Funeral For A Friend, especially when the keep producing songs of this quality so long after they were a mainstream proposition. The Distance is a one hundred and fifty second long sprint through what makes them great, a propulsive back beat, a fire spitting riff, an enormous melodic chorus and a sense of genuine excitement that many of the rock bands that they’ve produced in their wake (not naming any names…) have forsaken in exchange for studio polished glossiness. Put simply, this is bastard cool, and if you have any interest in the heavy music that this great island has produced, then you owe it to yourself to check it out and keep this institution alive.
