Folk, blues and country singer-songwriter Valerie June is a Tennessee native who merges gospel with bluegrass and Appalachian music. She’s a talented and beautiful woman with old-school dreadlocks.

Her single You Can’t be Told will be released on March 4th, 2013. Following Workin’ Woman Blues, this is the second release from her forthcoming debut album Pushin’ Against A Stone to be released in the spring on Sunday Best.

The single is available on limited edition CD and heavyweight 12″ vinyl and was written by Valerie and Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) with Kevin Augunas (Edward Sharpe, The Magnetic Zeros & Florence & The Machine). Recording took place at Dan’s Easy Eye Studio in Nashville.

You Can’t Be Told is ‘organic moonshine roots music’ about a stubborn man who just can’t be instructed about anything. It’s strong, rocky and gritty and has a vibrant Afro beat rhythm that’s easy to imagine at a porch party.
