The Script – Six Degrees of Separation

Six Degrees of Separation is the latest single by chart-toppers, The Script. It has your typical masculine vocals with the perfect gruff-sensitive ratio. It has a very mainstream sound to it and the kind of catchiness that is sure to make this another hit. The vocals have a rhythmic quality to them but they have a whiney quality to them in places, although I assume this is an attempt to make the song sound emotional and heartfelt.
‘You tell your friends, yeah, strangers too,
Anyone who’ll throw an arm around you, yeah
Tarot cards
Gems and stones,
Believing all that shit is gonna heal your soul.
Well it’s not, no, woh’
The lyrics aren’t don’t have much depth to them and use expletives to try and add some emotion where they would seem completely flat otherwise.
The Script seem to be pretty popular at the moment so this single is also sure to be a hit for them. However, for those new to the band, this track probably doesn’t show them at their best.
