VALERIE JUNE – Workin’ Woman Blues
aaamusic | On 18, Nov 2012
Tennessee country, gospel and Delta blues artist Valerie June sings self-styled “organic moonshine roots music”. With versatility she also captures folk, soul, bluegrass and Appalachian.
Her début single Workin’ Woman Blues is taken from her début album Pushin’ Against A Stone, due out in May, 2013. Released on 19th November, 2012 on the Sunday Best label, it was recorded at The Black Key’s Easy Eye Studio in Nashville together with Dan Auerbach (Black Keys) and Kevin Augunas (Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Florence & The Machine).
Valerie tries to reflect “how the traditional artists I loved came home after a hard day to sit on the porch a play tunes until bedtime.” As a self taught artist Workin’ Woman Blues gives an insight into how she’s worked and played hard. With a strong traditional feel, her stunning vocals are warm, credible and inspiring.
