Well, this is just inconsiderate. Damn Vandals here seem to have the gall to sound recognisably like a guitar band but not immediately bring to mind another band. While this is fantastic news to them, as they already seem to have defined their own sound by the release of this, their second single, but very bad news for me as I can’t sound all pretentious and knowledgeable about music by comparing them to “X meets Y on really bad Acid” or something along those lines. And you all know I’m the important one in this exchange. Really, all you need to know is that it’s a gritty piece of garage rock with a memorable example of everything from guitar lines, vocals to drum patterns, with the awesomely named singer Jack Kansas giving his best gravelly howl over some damn fine melodies. It’s the perfect mix of an immediately great song and the sign of a band with an awful lot of potential. Highly recommended.
