Squarepusher’s Hackney Empire show (20th October: for which there are only a FEW tickets left available) marks his first headline London show, following dazzling appearances at selected summer festivals. Having caught his mind-melting main stage show at Sonar Barcelona earlier in June, AAAMusic can confirm that this a performance and AV show like none other – the art of real UK visionary. CHECK IT!

Squarepusher is without doubt one of the most innovative and progressive artists working in electronic music today. The Warp Records legend has pushed the boundaries of almost every type of IDM across his many (MANY) albums – from acid drum’n’bass and jazz-infused hiphop (and just straight jazz), to electro, breaks and, more recently, dubstep.

His 2012 album Ufabulum is a strangely hypnotic and robotic affair, but emerged to be his most consistent collection of productions. HOWEVER, it was not Squarepusher’s record that had every body going jungle-rave bananas this summer, but the mind-blowing Live Ufabulum show that accompanied it. Programmed by Squarepusher himself, the AV show consists of a backdrop of endless LED screens and lights that react to his mixing and music making.
