Benny Marchant – One More Chance

Benny Marchant is an American solo artist who plays with the backing of a five piece band- he has just released their latest album “One More Chance” and will embark on a US tour over the next couple of weeks to promote the release. Marchant’s sound is a fusion of country-pop and Americana, similar to Lady Antebellum, his songs are unmistakeably American, you could almost guess that Marchant has done a stint as a songwriter in Nashville.
The lead single from this album is “Back to Life” a guitar driven country-pop song- the official video for this song has been released and is recieving strong support from fans and critics. However, I think that there are stronger songs on “One More Chance”. Tunes like “Bitter” and “That’s All” showcase Marchant’s vocals better but are perhaps not as commercial as “Back to Life”. Marchants rugged vocal tone is a little bit reminiscent of a young Keith Urban- as are the song structures.
One More Chance is packed with catchy, bluesy country songs that will no doubt go down well in the American market. However I am not sure that people in the UK will be as responsive. After listening to 3 or 4 tracks unfortunately the songs start to sound a bit the same to me.
