Mothlite – Seeing in the Dark

A brooding and somewhat dark ambience meets straight pop for Mothlite’s latest single, Seeing in the Dark. The band’s influences include Kate Bush and The Cure, both of whom shine through their music in its sombre yet light pop style. Brainchild of the group, Daniel O’Sullivan, has described their second album, Dark Age, as ‘Dark megalomania, contradictions and paradoxes, and general bleakness’ and for this we cannot help but salute him. The balance of melancholic and somewhat gothic sounds are perfectly balanced with the hooks and choruses of light pop, giving an 80’s vibe to their music. Utter brilliance.
