Soft whispery vocals, tinkling bells and light acoustic guitar strumming all combine for this rather insipid affair, reminiscent of Snow Patrol at their most sugary. I can imagine it featuring at the dramatic climax of some dire romantic comedy, where the two protagonists finally get it together in a ‘moving’ display of sentimental grotesquery. The harmonies are all very familiar, as are the bland lyrics and instrumental landscape. In its favour, the song is competently assembled and realised, and Hayes has an attractive if somewhat forgettable vocal style; if only it had been put to better use with music of far greater character and imagination.
