Sophie Delila

What Did I Do EP released 1st October on Freak N See Records

Live at London Borderline 20th September

‘Sophie Delila’s the real deal’ – The Daily Mirror Ticket Supplement
‘A superb vocalist’ – The Independent
Although you might not yet know it, you may already have encountered the work of the supremely talented Sophie Delila. She has duetted with Plan Bon tour and Radio1’s Live Lounge, written for Duffy and regularly performs live as a member of acclaimed French collective Nouvelle Vague.
A bittersweet, yet uplifting tale of lost love, her lead single ‘What Did I Do’ (released 1st October on Freak N See Records) is the perfect showcase for Sophie’s songwriting and vocal talents. With contagious melodies and memorable hooks, Sophie creates a sound that’s satisfyingly hard to define – sitting somewhere between traditional singer songwriter sensibilities, dance floor influences and straight up, classy pop. The single is backed by ‘My Life Could Use A Remix’, a track co-written by Sophie with legendary lyricist Don Black, who has provided lyrics for some of the most famous names in the music industryincluding Quincy JonesMichael Jackson and several James Bond theme tunes.
Born into a musical household in Paris (Ray Charles manager was a close family friend, and house guests in their Parisian home included the greatMarvin Gaye), Sophie’s story so far could hardly be described as typical. Winning a scholarship to the prestigious Berkley School of Music in Boston at the age of seventeen, Sophie moved to the US and ended up working in various studios and gigging regularly in New York. Having moved to London six years ago, she is now established in South West London as an accomplished songwriter and producer in her own right. Her windowless studio near Putney Bridge has provided her with the perfect opportunity to hone her craft, working with the likes of Aleks Josh, Jack Savoretti, and productions teams Monarchy and The Suppliers.
Sophie will be playing her first headline London show of the year at The Borderline, Charing Cross Road on 20th September. Support comes from Aleks Josh. Tickets are available from : –
Sophie’s album ‘My Life Could Use A Remix’ will be released next year.
