The latest track of Alphabet Backwards, Ladybird, continues their penchant for feel-good music with its perfect suitability for the gradually emerging summer.
This light, poppy piece lifts you up from the very opening note, aided by the cheerful piano jingles and abundant use of the ever cheerful glockenspiel. The band describes their music as ‘bouncier than the trampolines of your childhood’, which from any other band would be over the top. With Alphabet Backwards, however, this statement is true. Their music really is that bouncy. Not for fans of dark and brooding music, Ladybird sounds like a celebration of summer, which is particularly apt coming from a band that deserves to be equally celebrated.
