Grim
New video released
Crushed Beaks have released a video for their new single ‘Grim’. The single is out now digitally via Paint It Black.
The Jonny Sanders-directed clip highlights the band’s adoration for the golden era of 70’s and 80’s Italian horror cinema. Along with their warped-out, pixilated artwork for both of their recent singles, ‘Grim’s video emphasizes the band’s obsession with horror cinema, combining the shotgun-pop speed of the track with a dazzling array of surrealist and terrifying imagery.
Using an Argento homage-laden setting imbibed with disorientating lighting structures, the duo of Matt Poile and Alex Morris act the intimidating, silent gentlemen as their innocent confines are transformed by supernatural happenings. Locusts, gauged eyeballs and deranged vocal possessions then drive the film’s Lynchian narrative to a dark, claustrophobic ending.
‘Grim’ is also the first production of Feedy Frizzi, daughter of Fabio Frizzi who is renowned for his scoring work on horror classics such as ‘The Beyond’, ‘City of the Living Dead’ and ‘Zombie Flesh Eaters’.
This new single has also seen Crushed Beaks played by the likes of Huw Stephens and Jen Long on Radio One, Tom Ravenscroft on 6music and championed by Jon Hillcock on his New Noise podcast.
