Sheila McQueen to release debut single

| On 19, Jul 2012

Sheila McQueen

Paris

Released 27th August 2012

Sheila McQueen is not just one woman, but two sisters, Genevieve and Jessica Arnold; and their single name represents their united approach in creating and developing unique sounding pop. The band is set to release their first track Paris with b-side Beyond Repair on the 27th of August 2012.

Genevieve and Jessica’s main inspirations comes from the likes of Madonna, Prince, The Human League and Talking Heads; but while their influences are apparent, Paris is a brilliantly individual slice of intellectual and intricate pop providing the listener with an instant hit. Combining high octaves, with hooky choruses, it’s plain to see why someone falls in love with Paris.

Both classically trained, after graduating they started to perform at venues across London and were spotted whilst performing at a Notting Hill club on an open mic night by Paul Conroy, who worked with  the likes of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. With Paul’s guidance, they started to develop and perfect their individualistic musical style and have spent the last 18 months continuously writing and rehearsing with a band to establish their unique sound.

After this intense period of work, they have developed an 80s influenced, synthpop style with haunting vocals and quirky dark harmonies. Sheila McQueen have now teamed up with music producers Kevin Bacon and Jonathan Quarmby, who are further helping them to establish their vision; and whilst the production is complex, it is fundamental to their sound.

Paris contains b-side Beyond Repair, a more sombre affair which will be available for download in August. The single is set for release on the 27th August 2012.
