EUGENE TWIST – The Boy Who Had Everything

| On 08, Jul 2012

Eugene Twist is a singer, songwriter and musician from Glasgow whose diverse influences include Leonard Cohen, The Pixies and Buena Vista Social Club.
His debut album The Boy Who Had Everything, released on 9th July, 2012 on Tough Act Records, is self-composed and produced.
If There’s Love Where I’m Going is a brisk and energetic track that contains a wild and inspiring saxophone. The slower It’s Down To You is a song about friendship with good vocals, a light drum beat and relaxed guitar chords. The Boy Who Had Everything starts quietly with creepy gothic sounds from a piano and then slowly builds with intense, atmospheric chords. Actress On A Mattress calmly tells of a moment of simple passion between two lovers.
The Boy Who Had Everything is an example of innovative and alternative song writing with a great deal of richness and variety. It’s a very individual album with a relaxed, playful and enjoyable style. Strong and confident lead vocals combine creatively with bass, keyboards, violin, clarinet, saxophone and cello. In future we may find impressive and intriguing things happening to the music of this ambitious artist.
