Leading online music community Unsigned Band Review has announced an initiative to give unsigned bands the chance to perform at a specially constructed stage in the Olympic Park as part of London’s 2012 celebrations from 28th July – 11th August and during the Paralympics from 30th August – 8th September.
Artists can enter through UBR’s re-launched website www.unsignedbandreview.com for a chance to perform. The site will select around 80 emerging icons to play to hundreds of thousands of visitors over the course of the Games with those who are most popular during that time winning the honour of closing the stage on the final day.
This initiative will form part of an entertainment programme, which spans across all four zones of the Olympic Park ‘common domain’, featuring a range of talent and London 2012 projects. This will create a once in a lifetime experience for all visitors and bring the magic of the Games to the green spaces and concourses in the Park. The newly built Olympic Park, in East London, is the largest urban park to be built in 150 years and will feature live sport at nine world class venues on the final day.
Emerging Icons is an innovative online platform created to enable fans to unearth the best in new UK musical talent stemming from the highly successful new music community Unsigned Band Review. Since launching in 2008 the initiative has gone from strength to strength attracting over 13,000 musicians to sign up and gaining attention in the national media for its innovation in music.
