NILE – At the gates of sethu

| On 19, Jun 2012

Nile return taking extreme to new depths on their latest album “At the gates of sethu”. They continue in their tradition of technical death metal with dark atmospherics and middle eastern interludes with lyrics based on Egyptology, mythology and history. Karl sanders and Dallas Toler-wade give a double vocal assault with chaotic skin blazing riffs backed up with George tollias frighteningly tight drums.

The band don’t really step outside the boundaries of what they usually do but no band sounds like them anyway so there’s really no need to mess up a perfect formula.”Enduring the Eternal Molestation of Flame” kicks things off nicely but the album really comes into itself with ” The Fiends Who Come to Steal the Magick of the Deceased” the album rushes along like a demented roller coaster, taking twists and turns with odd time signatures and off kilter riffs.

Theres the odd breather here and there but not for long, the album plays as one body of work with each relentless song easing into the next, like all Nile albums it’s a little hard to digest at first but it does reward repeated listening, there’s plenty here for Nile devotees and it has more than enough potential to win other plenty of new fans too.

With each album Nile cement themselves into the death metal elite!
