Clockwork Era are a band that sound nothing like the White Stripes even though they have a guitarist and drummer combination and any previous reference to this is just stupidity they sound like they have took their sound from the likes of Neil’s Children and Urban Scum. They have punk attitude with new wave temperament and a attitude that that was pioneered by the new Bat Cave scene, they need to get their live legs stretched but that will come in time but they have had a good start and are worth checking out.
Cold in Berlin have a new album coming out soon and a lot of promising things happening on the horizon and they are fresh back from the studio, but there are a few things missing Mya is only allowed to stay on the stage tonight or the venue will cut their power, which means a certain frustration there in the hearts of the band cause they don’t like to compromise the artistic temperament of the band. Adam does dive offstage at one point showing that he doesn’t care for rules and regulations and taking his punk rock stand for the evening. They still have that haunting attitude and their sound is amazing but this is not their best moment and I think when they have polished the new material they will come back bigger and brighter.
Neurotic Mass Movement have quite a buzz behind them with many record companies chasing them, so I wanted to see why, They start off with promise and the first songs have a nice Erie sound behind them with vocals that are quite strange but these vocals as the set goes on seem to go a little out of tune and sound more like wails. They have bass lines that loop over with the backing track that after a while just seems to be on a loop rotation so you are not sure if they are just playing the same song over and over again. The violins are a nice touch but not used enough and the sound is just dragged out and you seem to get bored quite easily but there are some interested artistic going on with this band we will just have to wait to see how they put them out to with the new album.
