Dogtanion, a pretty strange name for a band, release their new single, Islam, a funny and endearing song. It’s a pretty odd song featuring slow guitar, weird electronic sounds, phlegm coughs and random lyrics. I can’t say it’s the most interesting song I’ve ever heard, its randomness and endeavouring humour reminds me of the stupid little songs me and my brother used to write on the guitar for a laugh. So nothing terribly impressive, I’d be being dishonest if I said I loved or even particularly liked this track.

‘I met a girl who thought that Islam was a country, she counter-referencing the fact that she was pretty. I never thought I was a genius until she told me I’m a genius.’

The song just kind of made me think of ultra indie kids and their experiences. Musically the song isn’t bad in places, although it’s pretty simple and the electronic sounds give it a kind of comic/humorous feel. Worth a few laughs.
