Master and the Mule – The View From Nowhere
aaamusic | On 07, Jun 2012
Leeds-based band Master and The Mule’s debut album The View From Nowhere is the link between post-rock grandeur and ambient fantasia, an ambitious and often far-out work on atmosphere. The record is mostly instrumental, with sparse yet powerful traces vocals here and there. These elements work both with and against each other at the same time. The album’s flow is almost uninterrupted and the tension builds and collapses at intervals. What is strange and fascinating about The View From Nowhere is its relentless rhythm, which is both a testimony to its coherence and a down point at times, when you wish some sort of climax or crescendo would occur. Overall, The View From Nowhere is a great experimental record showing fantastic potential.
