From the beginning of their careers, Items & Things label owners Magda, Troy Pierce & Marc Houle have always had a deep love & appreciation for the intimate. The dark & dirty. The underground. As a means to showcase talent on the Items & Things label, they created their Down & Out series of events, bringing their heaviest artillery of tracks, a stash of smaller-room sounds, and a vibe that feels more ‘family’ than club-land. Combining the unrestrained tastes of the trio, the parties always feature all three label heads in addition to showcasing a raft of upcoming names, hand selected by the trio along with established stars of the electronic music scene.
This summer the trio are taking the concept on tour, starting at Sonar as Down & Out descends on Barcelona’s City Hall on June 15th with Magda, Marc Houle (Live) and Troy Pierce.
The journey continues in Paris on 29th June with a special Items & Things Down & Out showcase at the ME.006 Festival in Paris. Joining the three label heads to perform live will be label newcomer Madato.
The it’s London calling as the trio head to Loft Studios on the 4th August inviting label friends and family Tim Paris, Madato (live) and Danny Benedettini to play alongside Magda, Marc Houle (live) and Troy Pierce.
And the fun doesn’t stop there as the label has a string of label showcases across Europe, including another stop at Sonar in a joint collaboration with Get The Curse on June 14th, Confused presents Items & Things at Rome Beach on 8th July and back at home in Berlin on 29th July for a very special album launch party for the new VARIABLES label compilation.
VARIABLES is the first collective compilation from Magda, Troy Pierce, Marc Houle and the gang, featuring a smorgasbord of original tracks. The four-piece vinyl box set, released on July 13th, comes in elaborate design and packaging, featuring a die-cut box from special textured material and 180g cream-colored vinyls. The track listing includes heavy hitting contributions from new friends, familiar faces, and Items & Things artists alike, including Rework, Populette, Jimmy Edgar, Miro Pajic, Tomas More, Click Box, Madato NYMA and more. The vinyl release will be followed by a CD mixed by Magda, released on July 27th in addition to all tracks released on digital download.
