goCarShare provides environmental and economically sound travel for thousands of festival-goers all over the UK, helping them to share car journeys, forge friendships and ultimately make the most of their resources. Since launching last year over 7,000 people have joined the goCarShare community interacting with its easy to use driver-passenger platform on Facebook.
This year with another 50 new festival partners added to the goCarShare roster, that figure is set to double. Importantly and as a directly consequence of embracing the goCarShare philosophy more festivals will be reducing their carbon footprint.
One of the new festivals LoveBox, commented “Lovebox are excited to have the Go Carshare scheme on board, bringing everyone from near and far to Vicky Park to celebrate a decade of love. It’s the best alternative to public transport!’
There has been additional significant major festival endorsement in 2012 for goCarShare. Reading, Leeds and Latitude will be providing FREE priority car parking for the first 200 cars to sign up through goCarShare.
In addition, the introduction of an empty car seat tax from Glade and Secret Garden Party festivals is an initiative that directly encourages more people to car share. Set alongside, goCarShare’s fantastic mobile app connecting car sharers on the move, live journey feeds and the roll out of its new music channel ‘goCarShare Sessions’, getting to and from festivals has never been so much fun!
goCarShare is absolutely FREE to use with sharers contributing to the overall cost of the journey through a recommended goCarShare tariff. There is an easy to use interface and the site is built around Facebook so ‘goCarSharers’ can screen who they pair up with using information pulled through from Facebook and find people who are friends of friends and have similar musical tastes. There is also an eBay style rating system to help weed out any bad drivers or unreliable passengers.
One of the exciting new developments this year will be the launch of the ‘goCarShare Sessions’. Bands are taken on a goCarShare journey to their festival destinations with their instruments and along the way an audio-visual chronicle of their road trip is filmed.
Impromptu motorway shenanigans, off the cuff insightful conversations and poignant moments of musical magic will be captured wrapped and delivered into a two part video containing acoustic tracks, in-depth interviews, cool give-a-ways and band merch. All free and part of goCarShare’s commitment to sharing Great British talent!
Ever started your festival experience by traipsing across 2 miles of wet farmland carrying all your gear to the site? We’ve all been there right? Well here is some great news for goCarShare users! goCarShare have teamed up with Reading, Leeds and Latitude Festivals who will be providing FREE priority parking! Meaning pop the boot, get your gear out and get set up! Life’s a journey…share it!
The Secret Garden Party has commissioned a giant map on site which people can request rides on at the festival. SGP are also introducing an empty car seat tax of £2.50 per seat encouraging everyone to car share.
Lots of new festivals have joined the goCarShare scheme in 2012 including: Creamfields, Parklife, Hop Farm, WOMAD , Bloodstock , Relentless NASS, Shambala , Sunrise Celebration , WOWFest , Golden Down , Lovebox , Castlepalooza , IOW.
