Colonel Mustard and The Dijon 5 – Dance Off

| On 27, May 2012

This band have an utterly cool name: how could their music ever live up to such a name? This would have been a great name for a steampunk band or something; instead the sound is kind of like a Scottish Scissor Sisters. I was somewhat disappointed.

Still, from the name of the single you get a pretty clear idea of the style of music, it’s the kind of dance pop that you’d expect in an upbeat club or disco. To its credit it’s a vibrant and catchy song, what with the jazzy trumpet and the Scottish accent giving the song a nice unconventional edge to what your average dance pop song provides.

It’s the perfect song for parties and gay clubs but would not be the kind of song to sit at home listening to. It very much needs company to be appreciated, therefore it’s difficult to review this song being somebody who is currently sitting at home alone in their room and listening to the song and also being someone who isn’t into going clubbing.

There are some interesting elements to this song; still I doubt I am the type of person who would be within its audience. Great band name and an interesting bio that you can check out on their Myspace.
