“A great sense of melody” – Brian Wilson
“Great songs, great band, great future” – Debbie Harry
“The best band since the Ramones” – Seymour Stein
Rock’n’roll dreamers Two Wounded Birds are back! And now, at long last, they will release their debut album, the self-titled ‘Two Wounded Birds’, on June 4th through Holiday Recordings (owned by Jacob Graham of The Drums).
Following their recent tour with Glasvegas and appearances at Camden Crawl & Live at Leeds, Two Wounded Birds are set to continue touring & playing festival shows throughout the summer, plus a Tracy Emin Exhibtion opening in their hometown of Margate, Kent. See below for details.
After a clutch of critically acclaimed singles & EPs, winning fans the world over and playing shows with the likes of Grouplove, The Black Lips and indeed The Drums (who Two Wounded Birds front man Johnny Danger joined onstage for their recent Roundhouse headline show) they return with what their label owner Jacob Graham describes as “a palpable emotion proving that the rebel does have a heart after all and perhaps feels even more deeply than the rest of us.
“It’s easy to see why these rising stars caught the ears of such legends as Brian Wilson and Debbie Harry.” Graham continues, “Their songs capture the American spirit with clear allegiances to the Beach Boys, the Ramones and Elvis—all while still acknowledging the band’s British roots. You won’t hear any Elton John-style American accents here; instead, Johnny Danger’s sound recalls the velvety tones of Colin Blunstone in his Zombies heyday—a voice with true character.
“In an age in which the shroud of “pop” can describe any poorly constructed jingle that comes along, it’s nice to see the dust settle and discover the genuine article…. Here you will find proof that sincere pop songs are truly timeless.”
